Connect Group PLC raises £500,000 for charities

Saturday 1st October 2016

After another successful year of charity fundraising, Connect Group is delighted to announce it has now raised over £500,000 for a variety of local and national charities.

The impressive total is an accumulation of employees’ fundraising efforts over the last five years, including almost £100,000 donated via the Company’s workplace giving schemes.

This is an amazing achievement and could not have been accomplished without the enthusiasm and contribution of the Group’s employees, who take part in numerous fundraising events throughout the year.

The programme, ‘Community Link-Up’, focuses on three key initiatives – charity fundraising, community volunteering and colleague involvement. As well as key flagship events organised by Connect Group, employees are encouraged to volunteer in their local communities and organise fundraising activities in their workplace. What began as a community ‘week’ is now a year-round programme; in just five years it has raised over £500,000 and supported over 200 good causes.

Mark Cashmore, Group Chief Executive, commented:

“Raising this amount of money is an outstanding achievement and a credit to everyone who takes part in our community programme. Each year we have fantastic commitment from our employees and as a result, we have been able to support over 40 charities this year alone.”

Popular flagship events have included sponsored walks and bike rides – this year 12 cyclists took part in the Severn Bridge Sportive, a 104 mile ride through four different counties. And the annual football and netball tournament attracts over 200 employees from across the UK each year.
