Netball is a hit at our annual football tournament

Monday 28th September 2015

Sunday 27 September was a day of action as 30 football and netball teams from across Swindon-based Connect Group took part in the Company’s biggest tournament to date.

Now in its third year, the football tournament is a popular annual event in Connect Group’s calendar, and included netball for the first time this year to make it more inclusive. The tournament is part of the Company’s Community Link-Up programme, a staff-led charity and community initiative.
Connect Group’s IT & Services Director Richard Webb hosted this year’s event and staff from all over the UK took part, including Plymouth, Norwich and Bradford. Held at Futsal Swindon, the tournament is opened each year by a special guest and on Sunday world-class basketball freestyler Andrew Wilding performed some tricks on the court.
Group Communications Executive Laura Smith runs the Community Link-Up programme and commented: “Sunday’s tournament was a huge success. The spirit and enthusiasm shown by our staff shows how much they enjoy taking part in events like this; it’s important we continue to provide these opportunities as part of Community Link-Up.”
The Company’s Newport team went home with the football trophy whilst the netball champions were a lot closer to home, being based at the Kembrey Park Head Office.
