New Supply Chain Graduate placement gains CILT accreditation

Wednesday 8th January 2014

Smiths News PLC’s 2014 Graduate Scheme has gained accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) for its new Supply Chain placement.

Now in its seventh year, places on the Graduate Scheme are highly sought after and this year’s scheme will for the first time include a placement dedicated to a Supply Chain graduate. Candidates with Supply Chain expertise are in short supply, so the company is taking a ‘home grown’ approach to supporting and developing the right candidate.

CILT Accreditation will allow the successful candidate access to support throughout the scheme, associate membership of CILT, and the opportunity to become a fully-chartered member after four years. It also means Smiths News PLC is able to maintain high standards and look to improve the scheme further through its relationship with CILT. In addition the Group hopes to benefit from a Supply Chain graduate’s knowledge of industry best-practice, whilst seeking to improve performance through the introduction of new skills into its businesses.

The 18-month Graduate Scheme is rotational, focusing on the Operations and Commercial areas of the business, with three placements running across the Group’s three main Business Units – Smiths News, Bertrams and The Consortium. It gives successful candidates the chance to work on real strategic projects in different fast-paced environments, and provides all the support and learning they need for future development.

At the end of the scheme, support will be provided to match Graduates’ ambitions and strengths to available vacancies in any of the Group’s business units.

Applicants can apply to take part in the Scheme until 1 February 2014 by visiting
