Smiths News raises cash for the Wallace and Gromit’s BIG Breakfast

Thursday 3rd May 2012

Staff at Smiths News’ head office in Swindon raised a cracking total of £138 for the Wallace and Gromit’s BIG Breakfast fundraising event last week. All the funds raised will be donated to local hospitals and hospices across the UK.

A group of Smiths News Community Champions, who’s duties include coordinating charity events for staff set up a Toast Bar in the staff canteen. Staff were invited to buy their breakfast for a small donation.

Rachel Cook, Community Champion at Smiths News said: “Staff could choose from a range of breakfast goodies, including some home-made breads and scones. We were amazed by the response as we were busy all morning making our colleague’s breakfasts! It was a fun and easy way to raise money for a worthy cause and we can’t wait to take part in next year’s BIG Breakfast event.”

Smiths News PLC will be counting the £138 towards their own Community Week target. As for the second year running, the company is holding its own fundraising event, Community Week - which will take place from Monday 25 June 2012. Smiths News PLC aims to smash last year’s fundraising total of £72,000 by getting staff involved in fundraising events for charities across England and Wales.
