Woo Fest music festival raises over £8000

Thursday 28th July 2016

There was plenty of sunshine, singing and laughter on Saturday 23 July, as guests enjoyed the second Woo Fest charity event.

The festival, which was organised by Instore Field Marketing’s Luke Simons, offered a variety of live music by local bands in a bid to raise as much money as possible for St Richard’s.

“We’re absolutely delighted to raise over £8K,” says Luke. “We thought it would be difficult to match last year’s amount so to get a 27% increase was amazing.”

As well as the impressive music line-up, there was plenty to keep the kids entertained – from a bouncy castle and arts & crafts, to a life-sized minion!

Luke and his sister Ria set up the music festival in memory of their father, who was cared for by the hospice during the last few days of his illness in 2013. The charity provides free care and support for patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Woo Fest 2016 was a great day with some incredible bands, all supported by an army of volunteers dedicating their time for free.

“Our sponsors picked up any unavoidable costs, continues Luke, which meant 100% of ticket sales could go to the hospice – plus we were able to raise even more money as our food providers cooked all day for free!”

Luke has already received some great feedback about this year’s event, and says his favourite is that ‘it felt like a giant family barbeque with amazing live music.’

Many of the guests opted to camp and stayed to watch the sun set on another successful Woo Fest.
