Wordery celebrates the gift of reading

Monday 7th March 2016

Online bookseller Wordery hosts a special reading day for local primary school.

To help celebrate World Book Day 2016, Farnborough-based Wordery visited Cherrywood Primary school and hosted a ‘cosy reads’ session with the children.

Celebrated globally each year, World Book Day encourages children to explore the pleasures of reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. Through an established partnership with Cherrywood, staff from Wordery spent an afternoon at the school to read with year three and four children.

The books were kindly donated by Macmillan Cancer Support and the children were delighted with their gifts as Marketing Manager Lucy Manfield comments, “The pupils were excited to be given a book they could actually take home – they had their noses in them straight away! Receiving so many ‘thank-you’s and beaming smiles made it incredibly rewarding.”

Wordery partnered with Cherrywood Primary in 2014 after a successful literacy scheme with the National Literacy Trust, and now regularly holds workshops to encourage youngsters to develop a love for reading.
